AYVF as the founding* World Space Week National Coordinator for Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates invites all space fans to celebrate WSW's 20th anniversary in 2019!

Less than two months to go WSW and AYVF invite broad participation from residents of all nationalities and ages, across government, academia, and the private sector in Bahrain and UAE to join the largest space festival on Earth. in 2019 we honor the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing as well as celebrate WSW's 20th year with engaging events that celebrate the Moon!

World Space Week (WSW), October 4 to 10 annually, was declared in 1999 by the United Nations General Assembly with the goal to celebrate the contribution of space science and technology for the good of humankind. Its dates commemorate two key events: the launch of Sputnik 1- the first artificial Earth satellite on October 4, 1957 – opening space for exploration, and the entry into force of the Outer Space Treaty on October 10, 1967.

Consisting of synchronized outreach and education activities by many - and any! organizations, the United Nations declared World Space Week reaches a mass audience each October 4-10 through attendance and media coverage. The benefits include:

• Building the workforce of tomorrow by inspiring students
• Visibly demonstrating public support for space programs
• Educating the public and government leaders about the benefits of space activities
• Promoting institutions which are involved in space
• Fostering international cooperation in space outreach and education.

World Space Week events are organized by entities as diverse as space agencies, schools, aerospace companies, planetaria, museums, astronomy clubs, with activities as varied as movie projections, space lectures, space exhibitions, sidewalk astronomy, drawing competitions, space debates and many more activities celebrating space. Since 2007, when detailed reporting began, World Space Week has been observed on a massive scale:
